This corner table is finished, I have been showing the different stages of hand painting this table in previous blog posts. The last step after completing the acrylic painting was to apply a thick glossy durable finish to the entire top. This protects the painting and prevents any stains or wear on the tabletop.
The table has a white crackled paint finish done in a beach cottage style. The dimensions are 22"x 20" with a height of 24". If you would like to buy this table contact me for details. info@beachcottageart.com

Painted Cottage Furniture - Next Step Is the Sketch Of the Painting
Here is my sketch for the top of the corner table that I am painting in a cottage furniture style. The shape of the tabletop is like a triangle and I thought this boat would fit nicely. This is an accent table or occasional table and would fit in a beach house or any cottage furniture setting with its white crackle finish. I will be painting this in acrylic paint so check back to follow along.
For a picture of the table look at my previous post here at my blog painted-cottage-furniture-follow-along. Go to Beach Cottage Art to see all of my hand painted cottage furniture for sale. Don't forget that I paint on commission too, so if you would like your favorite scene painted send me an email. Thanks, P.J. Cook

Painted Cottage Furniture - Follow Along With This Corner Table Project Done In A Beach House Style
My next hand painted cottage furniture project is this corner table. This is an accent table or occasional table and would fit in a beach house or any cottage furniture setting. The table has nice lines and has the same white crackled finish as the sofa table that I just finished. The table height is 24 inches and the width is 19.5 inches. I'm still deciding on what to paint on the top. A seashell, crab, starfish, coral or maybe a beach, something that would look good in a beach house. If you have any ideas leave me a comment. Thanks

Painting Custom Cottage Furniture - Acrylic Painting of Sandpiper Birds On Sofa Table
I have continued working on the sandpiper birds running on the beach that I am painting on a sofa table in the cottage furniture style. As you can see in the picture I have a worked on a few of the birds, adding more detail. I will continue adding the details on the birds until I finish all seven of them.
The background is taking shape with the waves and foam. I have been adding thin layers of acrylic paint so the crackle texture still shows through. I think that will give the painting some interesting texture. Check back to see the finished sandpiper beach painting later this week. I will be blogging next on my wood chair project that I am painting for a Connecticut charity showing the steps of painting a seascape on a chair. For other cottage furniture projects check out Beach Cottage Art.

Cottage Furniture With Sandpiper Birds On The Beach
Here is a closeup of one of the sandpiper birds on the beach. I have worked on this bird, adding more of the detail in the feathers and his legs. And don't forget the shadow, it now looks like the sun is shining.
I am trying to keep some of the crackle finish from the table to show through in the painting. It is gradually fading into the painting.
Don't forget to check out my new website of hand painted cottage furniture and beach decor at Beach Cottage Art
Thanks

Painting Sandpiper Birds Running On the Beach - Second Step In Custom Cottage Furniture
These little sandpiper birds running on the beach makes a great scene for a long table like the sofa table that I'm now painting. The table is 44 inches long and having these birds running across the surface fills the table top nicely. The nice white crackled finish on the table will look great with any cottage furniture setting in a beach cottage or your home with beach theme decor.
I have started painting the birds in acrylic paint. This photo is of the right side of the table top and you can see where I have started painting more detail on one of the birds. I will continue adding more detail to each of the seven birds before I focus on any other area. Check back to see all the detail on the birds.

Hand Painted Cottage Furniture With a Beach Scene - Follow Along With artist P.J.Cook
These are some examples of wood graining paint technique often called faux painting. On the left is my usual way of having the color as the background and the white for the grain of the wood. The next one is done in reverse, white as background and color for the wood grain.
The next sample is a crackle effect. I will be painting two pieces of furniture with this crackle as the background. I like this look and I think it will go well with a beach scene painting. I think the wood graining and the crackle technique work well for cottage furniture. I will show the steps of painting a sofa table and an occasional table, each will have a beach scene hand painted on the furniture. One of the paintings will have sandpiper birds running on the sand. A favorite for many beach lovers out there.
